Free toolFirebase shutdown checker
Paste your dependency files, firebase.json or server code to see which Firebase shutdowns they touch. Two are already done, the legacy FCM send API and Dynamic Links, and five more fall between March 22 and September 30, 2027. The check runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Free, no sign-up. Dates checked October 22, 2026.

What it checks
- From July 22, 2024 (done)
- Legacy FCM send API
- Sending with a server key to fcm/send stopped. The tool looks for fcm.googleapis.com/fcm/send and an Authorization: key= header. Move to FCM HTTP v1 or the Admin SDK.
- Read the guide
- August 25, 2025 (done)
- Firebase Dynamic Links
- Dynamic Links and email link sign-in that relied on them. The tool looks for the firebase_dynamic_links packages, FirebaseDynamicLinks and page.link. Use your own deep links.
- Read the guide
- March 22, 2027
- Firebase Studio
- Code can’t show it, so the tool always reminds you to check the console. Existing workspaces end and remaining data is permanently deleted.
- Read the guide
- March 31, 2027
- Firebase Extensions
- Installed extensions keep running, but you lose updating, reconfiguring and uninstalling them. The tool looks for an extensions key in firebase.json and extensions/ .env files.
- Read the guide
- June 15, 2027
- Firebase ML
- Custom model hosting through Firebase ML ends. The tool looks for the model downloader and ML Vision packages in Flutter, Android and Apple projects.
- Read the guide
- September 29, 2027
- FCM InstanceId APIs and device groups
- Requests to iid.googleapis.com and device group management start failing, and new users are blocked after January 1, 2027. The tool looks for iid.googleapis.com and notification_key.
- Read the guide
- September 30, 2027
- Firebase Test Lab
- All of Test Lab ends. The tool looks for gcloud firebase test, firebase test android and the word testlab or ftl in the server or CI code you paste.
- Read the guide
- October 7, 2026 (not a shutdown)
- Firebase Apple SDK 13 and CocoaPods
- SDK 13.0.0 is not distributed through CocoaPods. The tool shows a note when it sees a Firebase pod or firebase_core in what you paste.

What this tool can’t see
It reads the text you paste. It can’t see the Firebase console, so Firebase Studio workspaces, installed Extensions, hosted ML models and Test Lab runs need a look there. It also can’t see transitive dependencies or server code you didn’t paste. A clean result means no match in the text, not that you are clear.
Shipping on Android too? The free Google Play deadline checker reads your Gradle files for the target API, 16 KB and Billing Library dates. For Security Rules, use the Firebase Security Rules checker.
Questions
- Are my files sent anywhere?
- No. The check runs in your browser with JavaScript, and what you paste never leaves the page. Only an anonymous count of matches is recorded for usage statistics.
- Is Firebase shutting down?
- No. Firebase is retiring some products and APIs, but core services such as Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions and Hosting are not on any shutdown list I found. Firebase says the Firebase Studio sunset doesn’t affect Firestore, Authentication or App Hosting.
- Will my Firebase Extensions stop working on March 31, 2027?
- Not immediately. Firebase says already-deployed extensions keep running on Google Cloud infrastructure, but after March 31, 2027 you can’t update, reconfigure or uninstall them through the Firebase console or CLI, or download their configuration. Firebase also warns that most extensions use the legacy Cloud Functions v1 SDK, which may stop running when older runtimes are decommissioned.
- Why does the tool always show Firebase Studio?
- Firebase Studio is a hosted workspace, so nothing in your code shows whether you use it. It sunsets on March 22, 2027. New workspaces and signups were disabled on June 22, 2026, and you must migrate any project you want to keep before the date.
- Why does a Podfile with Firebase show a note?
- Firebase Apple SDK 13.0.0, released October 7, 2026, is not distributed through CocoaPods. It ships through Swift Package Manager and binary distributions. For Flutter, firebase_core 5.0.0, published October 15, 2026, builds on Firebase Apple SDK 13 and the Firebase Android BoM 35, and its Android build requires minSdk 24. This is a dated change, not a shutdown.
- If the checker finds nothing, am I clear?
- Not necessarily. It reads only the text you paste. It can’t see the Firebase console, transitive dependencies or server code you didn’t paste, so Studio workspaces, installed Extensions, hosted ML models and Test Lab runs still need a look in the console.
