Want it cleaned up for you?

The Shopify Speed & Checkout Tune-Up measures your home, collection, product and cart pages on mobile, removes leftover app scripts, fixes oversized images, render-blocking code, fonts and layout shift on a duplicate theme, and reviews cart to checkout. You see the before and after and publish it yourself. $750, 5 business days.

Full refund if Simon can’t take it on once he sees your project, or if you cancel before work starts.

Questions

Is my store’s code uploaded anywhere?

No. The check runs in your browser with JavaScript; the page source never leaves the page. Only anonymous counts, such as the number of third-party hosts, are recorded for usage statistics.

Why do scripts from apps I uninstalled still load?

Apps that edited your theme files directly can leave snippets and script tags behind, because uninstalling an app doesn’t undo edits to theme code. Apps built as theme app extensions don’t edit theme code, so their app embeds are managed from the theme editor instead.

When do Shopify script tags stop working?

Shopify says it will stop injecting script tags into storefronts on March 1, 2027. Since October 1, 2026, the API calls that create or update storefront script tags return an error, and existing ones keep running until March 1. Apps are expected to move to theme app extensions, which show up here as app embeds.

Is it safe to delete a script I don’t recognise?

Not without checking. Some scripts handle reviews, subscriptions, tracking or checkout features you still use. Duplicate your theme, remove one thing at a time on the copy, and test the pages and cart before publishing.

Why is a host marked “Not recognised”?

The checker names a short list of common apps and tags by their script domain. Anything else is listed by host only; searching the host name usually tells you which app it belongs to.
